This is a pretty good pinball collection for the Nintendo Wii.
I actually walked to my nearest Best Buy, but didn't see any on the shelf. A helpful sales associate asked me if I needed any assistance, checked the computer and found that there were 8 of these in the stock room. Thanks, dude!
Of course, it was slow at that time of day (about 2PM), and I didn't need to wait in line for a cashier. But then the cashier just had to ask if I wanted to buy some kind of game disk warranty that would replace the title if it became scratched or damaged within the next year. Naturally, I declined.
I can't hide the way I feel about Crocs. In addition to being fugly, they can also be unsafe.
Now I know that there are those who swear by them and claim they're very comfortable, but I'd rather not see them on the street.
I ran across this picture somewhere recently. It sums up my feelings.
I picked up a Wii "Classic Controller"
today, along with another Wii Points card to enable more downloads from
the online "Wii Shop Channel."
I actually tried to buy the controller and the points card Tuesday, but when I stopped in the Best Buy at Pentagon Centre, there was exactly one (1!) cashier for the 15 people in line. Meanwhile, there were 20 sales assistants wandering around the floor helpfully asking shoppers whether they found everything okay.
Rather than wait in line at Best Buy for 20 minutes, I left and tried the GameStop (aka EB Games) store at Pentagon City. Unfortunately, the GameStop was full of Xbox 360 fanatics buying their first-day copies of Halo 3. Sheesh... gamers!

If you haven't seen it yet, you need to check out the website for the movie "The Golden Compass" which is slated for release in theaters 12/7/2007.
The trailer, several minutes long, is way cool. Be sure to create your very own daemon by answering a few personality questions. In the world of The Golden Compass, you don't want to be without your daemon.
Here's my daemon, Xanthia.:
Yesterday while going through a stack of old magazines and other publications, I ran across this from the fine folks at Consumer Reports.
Items reviewed in that issue of the Buying Guide include:
- Cassette Decks
- Film Processing
- Typewriters & Word Processors
- LaserDisc Players (yeah, we're talking about LaserDisc players and not DVD players!)
My only question would be, "Is it okay to throw this away yet?"
Monday's CNN/YouTube debate provided an interesting couple of hours. In case you missed it, here's a brief summary. Yup, here it is...
The Democratic candidates were asked to respond to questions uploaded to YouTube by members of the public.
Moderated by Anderson Cooper, the candidates participating were Mike Gravell, Chris Dodd, John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Bill Richardson, Joe Biden, and Dennis Kucinich.
Mike Gravell sounded like a rabid old coot when he went off on a rant blaming Bill and Hillary Clinton for the abuses of big business.
Obama and Clinton both did well in responding to the question about why some people think of them as being not black enough and not feminine enough, respectively.
One of the questions was why religious beliefs of politicians should be a bar to same-sex marriages. Edwards struggled with the answer in order to not sound like one who would like to impose his religious views on others, and emphasized that he and Elizabeth disagree on the issue. A couple others indicated that while they don't approve of same-sex marriage, they do approve of same-sex civil unions.
Joe Biden turned into a babbling idiot and verbally abused the video questioner when asked about gun control. I gather from Biden's response that he is pro-gun control, and anti-2nd Amendment, and that he receives the lowest possible grade from the NRA.
And near the end of the debate, one of the YouTube questioners asked each of the candidates to turn to the person on his or her left and say what they like and do not like about them. Joe Biden said the thing he liked most about Dennis Kucinich was his (Kucinich's) wife. Yup, it was only a matter of time before somebody went there.
But can you blame Biden for mentioning Kucinich's wife?
The Republican CNN/YouTube debate will be held in St. Petersburg, FL Monday, September 17 and televised on CNN. And YouTube users are once again invited to upload videos asking the candidates questions.
Hillary Clinton has dropped her maiden name of "Rodham" - at least for the duration.
As I see it, this serves two purposes.
- It makes printing the bumper stickers and campaign buttons that much easier. Her name can be in a larger font, and will therefor be more readable.
- It reinforces her connection to Bill Clinton, and deemphasizes his infidelities. Since so many voters still view divorce as a stain on a candidate's record, this solidifies the marriage and polishes her halo as a loving wife who is willing to forgive her husband for his transgressions in order to sustain their marriage.
With the general election less than a year and a half away, here are some of my early impressions of just a few of the presidential candidates.
- Rudy Giuliani - His performance in the most recent debate was positively scary. And while his personal life is a mess, I don't hold that against him, Heck, I still think Bill Clinton is a genius and a great president. But if we look at coolness under fire, we see that though Giuliani came up smelling like roses in September 2001, he's shown in debates that he can't think on his feet, and we don't need another president like that.
- Barack Obama - He may be smart, and he may have the right demographic for this particular time in American history, he just doesn't seem to have the necessary level of experience to take the reigns of our nation right now. Sure, Jack Kennedy was young, too; but I remember Jack Kennedy and Barack Obama is no Jack Kennedy.
- Hillary Clinton - She's scary. She's strident and she wants to be president out of sheer, blind ambition. Can she do the job? Yes! Does she have a chance at being elected? Yes! Does she still scare me with her socialist agenda? Yes!
- John Edwards - Smart and moral with good grass-roots support. I like him, but his aggressive platform is maybe a little too aggressive to help him with the election. And by that, I mean his statement that he supports universal military service. That sort of thing is a big change for this nation, and if he really feels that way, maybe he should have saved it for after the election.
- John McCain - Smart and politically savvy, with a great resume of service to his country, but there's a screw loose somewhere. I don't really believe he's got all his marbles.
- Arnold Schwarzenegger - Can we please hurry up and change the Constitution so that The Governator can take his rightful place in The White House?
